Outdoor Kitchen FAQs

If you love to cook, enjoy the outdoors, and want to entertain, then the amount of use you will get out of an outdoor kitchen will absolutely be worth the investment. The ability to have everything in one place, rather than running back and forth into the house, is a total game-changer. It allows you to craft memorable culinary experiences where every meal becomes a celebration and every gathering creates lasting memories in the Italian tradition of convivialità.

The best layout for an outdoor kitchen depends on the space you have. If your space is limited, it's important to determine which aspects of the kitchen are most important to you and build from there. It helps to have some counter space beside your large appliances to allow for food prep. By utilizing our customization features, you can view different kitchen setups right in your backyard! The possibilities are endless.

A luxury outdoor kitchen does not need a roof! A roof would certainly help to protect your kitchen and appliances from the elements, but it is not necessary. Your appliances can be covered when not in use, and the modular kitchen itself is made for use in extreme climates.

Fontana outdoor kitchens are made to withstand extreme weather conditions. The galvannealed steel material is rustproof, and the dual powder coating on the interior and exterior protects the units from rain, snow, heat, or cold.

Absolutely! Fontana modular outdoor kitchens are built to work with Fontana pizza ovens, whether it's with wood, propane, or natural gas. The result is a harmonious culinary ecosystem where authentic Italian cooking traditions can flourish.

To cut down on installation costs, choose a location with easy access to gas, electricity, and plumbing. You'll also want to make sure your outdoor kitchen isn't too far from your indoor kitchen for ease of use when gathering materials. Let the outdoor kitchen act as a visual anchor to really bring your backyard vision to life.

To help you get started in your modular outdoor kitchen journey, we have five preconfigured designs for you to explore. From there, you can customize your design as you'd like. You also have the option to start a design from scratch using our design tools.

Our outdoor kitchen designs are completely customizable. If you'd like to play with the design, we have an online tool that allows you to create any combination yourself. If you'd like some assistance, our design experts are here to help.

Yes! Fontana outdoor modular kitchens are built to withstand the elements so your kitchen can be used all year round.

Handcrafted in Italy's renowned Marche region, each Elysia kitchen carries forward the Fontana family's 70+ year legacy of exceptional Italian artisanship, where passion for culinary excellence meets time-honored craftsmanship.

Fontana outdoor modular kitchens are made of galvannealed steel. This material offers the strength of carbon steel with the added corrosion resistance of a zinc coating that’s heat-treated to bond permanently with the surface. This process creates a durable, paint-ready finish that’s ideal for outdoor environments.

Every detail reflects the difference between manufactured products and handcrafted Italian artistry—where pride in workmanship creates outdoor kitchens worthy of the Fontana legacy.

Our kitchens are made of galvannealed steel, which ensures durability as well as a beautiful, modern matte finish. It is then powder-coated on the outside and inside of every cabinet and drawer—this protects the units from the damaging effects of Mother Nature.

Fontana outdoor kitchens include luxury soft-close hinges, casters, and all stainless steel hardware.

Fontana outdoor kitchens are offered with Neolith countertops, which are incredibly durable and UV-resistant. If you'd prefer to choose your own countertop, the modular designs can be ordered without the countertop—however, it will not be as easy in the future to customize your design.

Our outdoor kitchens are all flat-packed, individually boxed, and shipped on a pallet straight to your home. Each component arrives ready to bring the elegance of Italian outdoor living.

We provide step-by-step video instructions along with paper instructions for building and installing your outdoor kitchen. If you are someone who loves a DIY project, you should be able to easily follow along, as the setup is similar to that of an Ikea cabinet. If you are unsure of your abilities, we recommend hiring a local professional to help with the setup process.

Our modular kitchen designs are complete with self-leveling adjustable feet for absolute stability on uneven surfaces.
