Serves 1 servings
Ingredients:
- 2 Oz Bourbon
- 2 shakes of Angastora Bitters
- 1/4 oz Agave Nectar
- Orange Peel
- Oak Kindling (or any other natural hardwood)
- Cocktail Glasses
- Bottle (reservoir) for Direct Infusion
- Glass Dome or Bowl for Indirect Infusion
- Ice Cubes
Directions
PREP YOUR OVEN:
Use your oven as it is preheating or after being used for cooking. All you need is an active flame.
- Direct Infusion Method:
- Prepare your cocktail by combining all 3 ingredients (Bourbon, Agave, and Bitters) and mixing well.
- Take your piece of hardwood (needs to be quite small so that it lights quickly) and place in your oven so that the tip of the wood catches fire.
- Take your glass bottle or reservoir and turn it upside down. Blow the flame out on the hardwood and place the smoking end into the upside down bottle and allow the bottle to fill with smoke (which will rise).
- Turn the smoke-filled reservoir right side up and immediately pour the cocktail mix into the reservoir. Cap off the bottle and begin mixing and swirling the cocktail in the smoke. This will infuse the liquid. The longer you swirl, the more smoky the liquid will become.
- Once sufficiently smoked, pour over a large ice cube in a cocktail glass and garnish with orange peel and zest.
- Enjoy
- Indirect Smoking Method:
- Prepare your cocktail by combining all 3 ingredients (Bourbon, Agave, and Bitters) and mixing well.
- Pour mix into cocktail glass with a large ice cube inside.
- garnish with orange peel and zest.
- Take your piece of hardwood (needs to be quite small so that it lights quickly) and place in your oven so that the tip of the wood catches fire.
- Blow the flame out and place the smoking piece of wood directly next to your cocktail glass and cover with a glass dome or bowl.
- Allow the smoke to fill and surround your cocktail for approximately 1-2 minutes.
- Remove and Enjoy.
***The 2 methods produce a COMPLETELY different outcome. I encourage you to try both, maybe even side by side.***
