Purchasing, Setup, & Support

We sincerely believe Fontana is the best wood-fired oven on the market. This is why we offer the best-in-class warranty on all of our ovens. There is a two-year warranty against manufacturer defect. There is also a four-year warranty on the dome of the cooking chamber. We stand by the quality & durability of our product, and we will continue to do so after the sale. Should you ever have a problem with your oven within the warranty period, please contact us directly via our Contact page or by phone 877 842 9822. We will work to resolve any issue(s) that are a result of manufacturing defect.

Unfortunately, because of the fragile nature of the stones, we do not offer a warranty on the stones. However, should your oven arrives with a damaged stone, please contact us immediately. We will replace any stones broken due to delivery negligence.

We do not offer any in-house financing, but customers can apply for financing through Paypal Credit that can be used to purchase a Fontana oven. Once approved, simply choose the Paypal payment method during checkout & select Paypal Credit as the preferred method of payment within the Paypal interface during that portion of the checkout process.

The ovens arrive in one piece, with no assembly required. For our Forno Toscano product line (Margherita, Mangiafuoco, & Marinara), the oven carts require about fifteen minutes of assembly, and we’ve made some instructional videos to help guide you through the assembling process. Our videos also show you how to secure the oven onto the cart after it’s assembled. For our double chamber ovens, the cart arrives fully assembled; you simply have to place the oven on the cart and attach the roof with screws that we provide.

Your oven will arrive with a manual, which contains all the information you’ll need. We have also made several instructional videos that show you how to assemble your new oven.

But in case you do have a question, feel free to call us anytime at 877 842 9822. We are very friendly and familiar with each model, and we will be glad to answer any questions you may have. We use these ovens regularly and know how to get the most out of them.

Oven Operation & Cooking

Actually, it’s the opposite – simple foods and classic techniques yield intensely flavored, immensely satisfying results when you use a Fontana wood-fired oven. Can you squeeze a lemon over a whole chicken, grind a little salt and pepper onto it, and drizzle it with a little olive oil? Then you’re ready to use your Fontana oven to make the best roast chicken you’ve ever had.

If you know how to build a fire and put food in the oven, then you already know how to use a Fontana oven. If you don’t, there are several short videos on our website that will guide you through the process. You can go from novice to pizza chef within a few days after receiving your Fontana oven.

No oven comes close to Fontana when it comes to quality construction. All of our ovens are still 100% made in Italy by master craftsmen and offer the following features:

Made from cast iron and 3-mm stainless steel

Reinforced with Corten steel, giving Fontana ovens an industry-best 4-year dome warranty

Continuous solid welds

Metals electro-galvanized before powder-coating, providing superb protection against corrosion

Fully insulated with 12cm of natural rock-spun wool insulation

Domed not only from back to back (like most ovens), but also side-to-side

Damper on the chimney lets you control the draw

Our ovens can allow smoke to exit even while door is closed

Fontana ovens are designed to burn hot and bright with a minimal amount of smoke. Because they use about one-fifth as much wood as a traditional wood-burning oven, they also produce much less smoke. Fontana ovens also heat up much faster than most other wood-fired ovens (15 minutes for a pizza oven, 45 minutes for a large oven, compared to 2-3 hours for other wood ovens on the market), reducing the oven’s burning time and further minimizing its smoke output. This minimal wood usage and smoke output mean that Fontana ovens are a responsible environmental choice.

In fact, wood-fired ovens are not considered by the Environmental Protection to have an environmental impact. Some customers have asked us about pending 2015 legislation that would allow for the regulation of some major wood-burning appliances, such as wood-fueled furnaces, boilers, and large heating stoves. We’re glad to say that the wording of the legislation explicitly excludes any appliance that is used exclusively for food preparation – glad because it means our customers don’t have to worry about it, and glad because it means we’re continuing to do our part to be responsible stewards of the environment.

As for how smoke affects the taste of your food, the Fontana brothers took care of that long ago. Their ingenious design draws the smoke up into the dome of the oven, where it assists with the forced convection process, keeping far from the surface of your food. Your pizza crust will have a touch of that wood-fired savor, but you won’t taste smoke in your food. (Of course, if you’re looking for that intense smoky flavor, you want our Pizza e Cucina line, which includes a smoker function.)
