Ready to make a delicious, but quick and easy appetizer? Here it is! Blooming Cheesy Stuffed Bread is a dish that you will be proud to serve to family and friends. Not always does gathering around the kitchen table warrant the preparation of an elaborate and complicated meal. With just a few simple Ingredients you will make a get-together a very pleasant and mouth-watering experience. Our daughter could hardly wait to bake this appetizer in the wood-fired oven. Let's make it together!
Preheat the oven until the internal temperature of the stone reaches a consistent 350°-375° Fahrenheit. Checking the temperature is easily done by, pointing the infrared thermometer on the baking stone.
We bake bread weekly in one of the Fontana wood-fired ovens. To prepare this dish we chose three loaves of bread previously baked in the oven.
With a serrated knife make deep cuts into the bread until the blade reaches almost the bottom of the loaf. Turn the loaf around and continue cutting into the slices you just made until you create many bite size squares. This probably is the hardest part of the process and a good knife is of utmost importance.
As you pry open each square of bread you created, stuff your favorite cheese into every opening. The possibilities are limitless! Just pick the cheese you love most, or use a variety of cheeses for several loaves. What we had available on this day was shredded mozzarella, which we placed in all loaves as filler. We also stuffed thin slices of Pepper Jack in one bread, slices of Muenster cheese in the second, and Sharp Cheddar pieces in the third loaf.
Feel free to add the cheese of your choosing into every opening.
With the help of a sharp knife dice a few green onions.
Melt a stick of butter in a bowl and add the green onions.
Drizzle a generous amount of good olive oil to the onions and butter.
Fresh, crushed garlic is also a wonderful addition to this mixture. Add enough salt to taste.
Mix all ingredients thoroughly.
Place bread in aluminum foil. Generously spoon some of the green onion, garlic, olive oil and butter mixture into each opening making sure not to miss any.
It is here where the butter and oil will permeate each morsel of bread.
It is now time to wrap the Stuffed Blooming Cheesy Bread in aluminium foil. Cover each loaf completely.
Finish wrapping all loaves with aluminum foil.
You are now ready for the magic to happen.
Make sure you check the temperature of the oven with an infrared thermometer before baking the bread. The ideal temperature must be anywhere between 350°-375° degrees Fahrenheit. It is now time to place the wrapped loaves of bread into the wood-fired oven for about 15 minutes.
After 15 minutes, unwrap the loaves and place them back into the oven for 10 more minutes.
There is just nothing like the aroma that comes out of the oven and permeates the air.
It is finally time to get these beauties out of the wood-fired oven.
Words can't express the glorious experience as everyone tries to grab the first morsel of bread covered with melted goodness of cheese and onions flowing all the way to the very bottom of each loaf. One morsel leads to another and before you know it everyone is satisfied with the delightful experience, and asking how to prepare it at home.
